With the successful completion of three years, Ataxia Awareness Society (AAS) celebrated its third foundation day ceremony on 14th March 2021.The event was held virtually on zoom platform. Participants from all over the India joined the event.Some delegates from FARA also attended the event.The program started with Saraswati Vandana by Mrs. Sudha Wagh . A welcome note was given by the President of AAS Ms. Swasti Wagh. After this shri Narendra Edlabadakar (Secretary of AAS ) gave a presentation about the activtes carried out by AAS in year 2020-21 and future programs of AAS.Dr. Tapti Roy Yadav (joint secretary of AAS) gave a brief introduction of keynote speakers , Dr. Ramaiah Muthyala (x-CEO of IORD) and Dr. Apoorva Pauranik (Neurophysician).Dr. Ramaiah Muthyala talked on ‘The Aids Proposed By The Government and Other Agencies Espicially For Rare Disease Patients’ .He discussed on the amendments made in clinical trial rules for treatment of rare diseases.Dr. Apoorva Pauranik gave a very informative presentation on ‘ The Genetics Of Ataxia And Need Of Genetic Counselling’.The invited speakers Dr. Achal Srivastava (Prof. of Neurology,AIMS , New Delhi) and Dr. Mohammad Farukh (from Inst. Of Genomics and Integrated Biology (IGIB) ,New Dehli graced the occasion. They discussed about the work going on in medical field for benefit of Ataxia patients .After each lecture sufficient time was given to the audience for questions and the speakers answered their queries.AAS appreciates and acknowledges the contribution of society and so certificate of appreciation was given to those who helped AAS and gave webinars on different topics.An article writing competition was arranged for ataxia patients . The certificates and prizes were given to the best three articles . Also the prizes and certificates were given to the patients who actively participated in AAS activities in year 2020-21. In the end Mrs. Jyoti Joshi (executive member of AAS) gave the vote of thanks.In continuation of foundation day celebration o n 14th March , AAS arranged a patient session on 4th April 2021 for AAS patients .Patients from all over India attended the session . All the patients enthusiastically participated in the event and gave their performance . Mrs,Swara Mahajan presented a melodious song ,Mrs.Surekha chitre recited a poem written by herself.Mr.Guruprasad Rao .Ms.Esha Mittal and Ms.Yamini recited beautiful poems.Mr.Vilas Shinde and Mr.Sachin Jadhav shared their motivational life stories .Mr.Naushad Khan and Mr.Vivek rao shared their views . Dr.Apoorva Pauranik briefed Dr.Muthyala’s talk (given on 14th March) in hindi.`
