The session aimed to spread awareness about Ataxia, a rare neurological disorder, among physiotherapy students and attendees.\n\nThe students of the college presented an informative and impactful skit, beautifully depicting the daily challenges faced by individuals living with Ataxia. Through their performance, they sensitized the audience to the physical and emotional struggles associated with this condition.\n\nThe guiding patron of the society, Dr. Apurva Puranik, Senior Neurologist from Indore, addressed the gathering through a video message. He welcomed the participants and highlighted the various awareness initiatives undertaken by the society. He emphasized that the organization regularly conducts programs related to speech therapy, physiotherapy, genetic counseling, and diet counseling, which have been beneficial for patients.\n\nThe Director of the society, Ms. Swasti Wagh, who herself is living with Ataxia, extended a warm welcome to all the attendees and shared her perspective, inspiring the audience with her strength and dedication.\n\nSociety members Mr. Manan Gupta and Mr. Anshu Jaiswal spoke about the journey of the organization over the past eight years, shedding light on its achievements as well as the challenges faced along the way. They then invited the keynote speaker, Dr. Sudhir Kothari, Senior Neurologist and Head of the Department of Neurology at Pune Hospital, who brings over 30 years of experience in the field.\n\nDr. Kothari delivered an insightful session on \u201cUnderstanding Ataxia Disease and its Management.\u201d He elaborated on the symptoms, diagnosis, and progression of the disease, while also sharing his vast clinical experience. He further highlighted that patients with Ataxia may also have associated metabolic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, which require timely identification and treatment.\n\nThe second keynote speaker, Dr. Renuka Naik, Neurophysiologist and Assistant Professor at Brijlal Jindal College of Physiotherapy, conducted a session on \u201cBarriers and Facilitators for Recovery in Ataxia Patients.\u201d Her session provided valuable insights into rehabilitation challenges and strategies for improving patient outcomes.\n\nAn interactive quiz session was conducted for the participants, where questions related to the seminar topics were asked. Winners were recognized and awarded by the Ataxia Awareness Society, Indore.\n\nThe program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shweta Kulkarni, Assistant Professor at Brijlal Jindal College and a volunteer of the society. Purpose of arranging the Event was to raise awareness about rare diseases and to empower patients and their families in India. The event,' Race for 7 ', symbolized the challenges and resilience of those affected by 7,000 rare diseases, uniting 7,000 participants in a 7-kilometer run. This year the marathon was simultaneously conducted in 21 cities of India. The Ataxia Awareness Society (AAS) actively participated from over six cities - Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Jaipur. The dedicated Ataxia warriors their caregivers and volunteers played a pivotal role in raising awareness about ataxia . In addition to their athletic participation, AAS members distributed ataxia pamphlets, effectively educating the public about the Ataxia and its impact on individuals. The session aimed to spread awareness about the role of genetics in Ataxia, the importance of genetic counselling, and the current spectrum of genetic ataxias in India.\nThe webinar commenced with a warm welcome note by Dr. Apoorva Pauranik,a Senior Neurologist and Patron of AAS. He emphasized the importance of role of genetic awareness and  genetic counselling in managing Ataxia effectively.\nExpert Talks:\nDr. Gayatri Iyer (Senior Genetic Counselor, TIGS, Bengaluru, Consultant at Genetic Counselling India) spoke on \"Genetics of Ataxia and the Need for Genetic Counseling\". She explained the role of genes in Ataxia and how genetic mutations contribute to the disease. She emphasised on the the significance of genetic testing and counseling in family planning and disease management.\nDr. Mohammed Faruq (Principal Scientist, CSIR-IGIB, Delhi) Presented on \"Spectrum of Genetic Ataxia in India\". He discussed the various types of genetic Ataxia prevalent in India and their clinical presentations. Shared insights on ongoing research, advancements in genetic diagnosis, and the potential for future treatments. \nThe webinar ended with an interactive Q&amp;A session, where participants raised important questions about genetic testing, inheritance patterns, and available diagnostic facilities in India.
