REPORT ON INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF AAS
Inauguration ceremony was organized by Ataxia Awareness Society (AAS) at Hotel Kanchan Tilak, Indore on Sunday, March 11, 2018 between 4 PM - 6 PM. The event was organized with a view to create awareness about Ataxia among common people and to launch the website https://www.ataxiaindia.com for providing an in-depth knowledge about Ataxia to all concerned persons.
Dr. Achal Shrivastava, Professor, Department of Neurology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi was the Chief Guest. Padmashree Dr. Janak Palta, renowned socialist and better known for her pioneering work in the area of sustainable development was the Guest of Honour on this occasion. Both the guests were welcomed and felicitated by Ms. Swasti Wagh, (President, AAS). Ms. Swasti Wagh and Dr. Apoorva Pauranik, Vice- President of AAS escorted Dr. Achal Shrivastava and Dr. Janak Palta to the dice.
The event started by performing Lighting of Lamp ceremony by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, Special Invitees, President of AAS and Vice- President of AAS. With this the Ataxia Awareness Society (AAS) was formally declared as Inaugurated. Mrs. Tapti Roy Yadav (Volunteer) provided all the necessary details related to AAS website through Power Point presentation and also explained how to use the website.
The dignitaries seated on the dais i.e. Dr. Achal Shrivastava (Chief Guest), Dr. Apoorva Pauranik (Vice- President, AAS) along with Padmashree Dr. Janak Palta (Guest of Honour) expressed their views and shared their experiences for overcoming from the sufferings of ataxia patients and their caretakers. They also suggested how to improve the Quality of Life.
Dr. Diwakar Wagh, father of Ms. Swasti Wagh gave the details of work done by him and Swasti in the field of ataxia disease. He also shared Ataxia related Research Paper findings authored by him through Power Point presentation to all the audience. Thereafter an open session was organized in which patients and their caretakers raised certain questions regarding ataxia. Dr. Achal Shrivastava as well as Dr. Apoorva Pauranik answered the various questions and issues raised by parents. Special Invitees, general public, volunteers, patients and their caretakers attended the function in good number. Some of the special invitees expressed their views on how to guide ataxia patients and their caretakers.
Inauguration Ceremony of AAS was followed by a short Skit organized by Prayas Group to spread awareness about rare disease Ataxia. All the invited guests, volunteers, patients and parents enjoyed the skit very much.
The Program ended with Vote of thanks which was delivered by Mrs. Tapti Roy Yadav.
The function concluded after serving tea and refreshments to all the volunteers, patients and invited guests.
